Kidz Kitz products are made with a “kids safe” approach to design and manufacture as well as to minimize our environmental footprint.

We use only high quality Canadian made maple plywood in the construction of our products, no particle board or MDF which give off harmful toxic gasses over their entire life. Plywood, in addition to being stronger and more stable than solid wood, is a material that maximizes the use of our forest resources creating a smaller environmental footprint.

With the interest in preserving the environment and reducing health risks to our children, there are no plastics used which not only pollute the environment during their manufacture, but when used as the main or only material in many other brands also give off harmful toxic gasses over their entire lifetime putting childrens’ health at risk.

We utilize traditional wood joinery construction techniques that insures a robust product and eliminates the hazard of small pieces coming free which could be ingested by a child. The furniture will last for years and be handed down rather than being thrown away after a short time thereby minimizing toxic materials in our landfills and toxic recycling processes.

Our furniture is designed to eliminate all sharp corners and edges to create a safe and appealing flowing design. Chairs and stools are created with stability as their number one safety factor when used in a proper manner, and toy box/benches are created with air holes and easily opened lids to avoid entrapment within, and to minimize any chance of finger pinching.

Each piece is individually hand assembled and inspected at every stage of construction to eliminate any and all possible hazards.

Our furniture grade lacquer finishes are also done with Canadian made products and contain no lead, chromates or other toxins which could gas off. Each piece is individually finished by hand with the care and attention it deserves to truly make it one of a kind for your child. Rather than “paint” we use stains which both accentuate the beauty of the wood and provide fun, stimulating colours for the kids. Our chalk board paint is a homemade, not toxic formula which is far more durable than the commercial brands.

"DIY" Finishing:

Each unfinished set includes step by step finishing instructions along with a sample board for testing your colour and sandpaper for touching up edges prior to staining to ensure lasting best results.
